Ultimate festive indulgences with The Peninsula Bangkok

The festive month of December is always a special time at The Peninsula Bangkok. Our chefs and entire hotel team set to work to give guests and visitors authentic Christmas and sparkling New Year experiences, including special programmes from early in the season until after the last firework fades over the shimmering Chao Phraya River. Charity is integral to spreading the festive spirit at The Peninsula Bangkok. The traditional “Trees of Hope” campaign, running throughout December until Christmas Day, helps make wishes come true for local children with life-threatening medical conditions while giving guests the opportunity to help. For every purchase of a Christmas tree ornament and SnowPage Plush Toy from the Peninsula Boutique, a donation is made to Make-A-Wish® Foundation. Guests are invited to post a picture of their SnowPage Plush Toy on the hotel social media channels including and Instagram/thepeninsulabangkok.

The holiday season begins at The Peninsula Bangkok with the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on 2 December, presided over by UNICEF Ambassador H.E. Anand Panyarachun. Smooth jazz, carols performed by students from St. Andrews School Sathorn and refreshments for all help put guests in a festive mood. The fun for children intensifies on 13 and 14 December with hotel’s signature “Teddy Bear Afternoon Tea”. Youngsters bring along their own teddies to enjoy together around the giant Christmas tree that dominates The Lobby. Again, a charitable dimension to the fun includes funds donated to UNICEF. Another activity for children of all ages is creating a “Thaiman”, a Thai-style snowman, using flowers and herbs at special sessions of the Peninsula Academy offered throughout the month in the enchanting riverside setting of Thiptara Thai restaurant. Decorative, fragrant and long lasting, the “Thaiman” makes a delightful addition to traditional festive decorations at home. Meanwhile, The Peninsula Boutique provides an exquisite assortment of customisable hampers. With the hotel beautifully decorated, the atmosphere continues to build to the season’s major events: Christmas Eve and Christmas Day Afternoon Tea and the lavish Christmas Eve Dinner and Christmas Day Brunch buffets. Served in The Lobby, Christmas Afternoon Tea features the finest festive bakery and savoury treats in an upbeat atmosphere infused with live jazz and visit from Santa Claus.

Christmas Eve is a big party that takes over the entire The Peninsula Lawn and River Cafe & Terrace with lavish indoor and outdoor buffets and gala presentations, including a 12-piece orchestra and Christmas party favours. Like Christmas Day Lunch, it is one of those occasions when Executive Chef Andreas Haugg and his team go all out to offer a festive gourmet dining experience. For somewhat more restrained celebrations a special six-course set menu at Thiptara Thai restaurant and a six-course gastronomic tour de force on the Lobby Terrace is on offer overlooking the main party.
